In Superman Returns, Lois Lane wrote about Superman after he left, trying to convince herself that she did not need him. In reality the world did need Superman.
If we took away the ability to manage contracts and relationships we would be left with a gaping hole in every business and all we could do would be to try and convince ourselves that everything was okay. Everything would not be okay.
Everything would not be okay because without Contract Management suppliers would not be accountable to customers. They could do what they liked and charge what they liked and take as long as they liked to perform. Quality and quantities would not be measured and the whole fabric of business would break down.
Without Contract Management nothing would happen. Suppliers would get paid without having done the work, Customers would never receive anything. Customers would want more and more and suppliers would give less and less until the wheels came to a grinding halt.
Money would be wasted and workmanship would deteriorate. Accounting systems would bear no resemblance to outcomes and many things in the world would be largely unfinished. Eventually the number of trading companies would diminish because the only ones to survive would be the ones who did a good job despite the lack of contract management, as we know, very few.
Litigation would run rampant but cases would be very hard to win as no-one would be keeping chronologies or records or writing specifications or committing to SLAs. With no contract management people would stop writing contracts. There would be much displeasure with performance but nothing against which to measure it. And so it goes. - 15246
