The Internet and Iowa Craft Shows

By Peter Schaub

Out here in the farmlands, time moves by a bit more slowly than in the fast-paced cities. It's the same old routine day-by-day with the same tasks everyday. It's quite fun to live in a serene place, but I must admit it gets boring.

It doesn't come as a surprise that most of the people I know in these parts get into a variety of hobbies and crafts. I have one friend who bends and shapes wires to create sculptures, while I have a soft spot for woodcarving. My father is proud that I have carried on something that he himself did.

My father's a bit of an old-timer, and hesitant at recent technological innovations, but he understands their benefit. With his consent, we were able to set up a decent Internet connection, which enabled me to post articles on a regular basis. But other than that, it has benefited me in that it grants me access to a wealth of information and news on current events.

In particular, the Internet is one of the best places for us to look for craft shows here in Iowa, the American Heartland. All we have to do is use a search engine to look for craft shows in Iowa, and we are instantly directed to sites that cater to our needs. Schedules are available here; all we have to do next is contact the event organizer and get a booth.

Now, I have the opportunity to sell off some of the carved items I have spent countless hours on, as well as a few pieces my father made. My friend even got into it and his plaster and wire sculptures are also a hit with the crowd. My father says it has instilled in us some good financial know-how and it can be a big help to me in my future doings. - 15246
