Small Business Ideas for teens

By Kay Riter

Stuff costs money and it doesn't take a teenager very long to figure this out and start wanting cash of his own. Teenagers are always looking for was to make some money. Sometimes it's hard to find a job, especially without any experience. Even if they do find a job, they rarely enjoy it or even make very much money.

When most teens want to start making money, they look for a job. It's not always easy to find a job. Even if they do find a job, it's not usually a job they love or that pays much. Another way to make money is to start a business. Some teens have been very successful with starting a side business.

You don't need to make a million dollars with your business in order for it to be considered successful. You can start small and stay small and still make money. Some of the most common small business ideas for teens are lawn mowing, snow shoveling, babysitting, etc.

They aren't often thought of as businesses, but that is exactly what they are. By babysitting, you are offering a service of caring for your clients kids. You charge them a fee per hour. This is a business. The same goes for mowing lawns, you are offering a service of cut grass to your clients for a fee.

If you treat your business like a business you will be able to be more profitable. Promote your business as a business to friends and family. Tell everyone that you are now available for babysitting or to mow a lawn and use set fees, fliers, and other ideas to make yourself look professional. By getting your name out their and looking professionally you will gain credibility. By doing a good job, you will gain even more credibility and your clients will start referring you to their friends and people they know.

If none of these business ideas appeal to you, try to think outside the box. You could sell snacks, drinks, and candy in town or at a park. When people are thirsty and hungry and you're the only one to fill their need, they'll buy. You could even try selling stuff like candy at school, but make sure it's allowed and that you won't get into trouble.

You can also try tutoring other students in subjects you do well in. You may even decide to tutor for classes you've already completed. You may want to talk to your guidance counselor to find out if there is any special way of doing it or for promotion ideas. If you have good grades, your classmates will trust you and when you help them achieve a good grade, they will tell their friends. Do some research on this idea and make a plan in order to be successful.

Getting a job will make you money, but jobs aren't for everyone. A successful small business is often more profitable and much more fun. Get creative and come up with the next big small business. - 15246
