Initial Preparations for Missouri Craft Fairs

By Rick Amorey

If you want to participate in one of the craft shows being held in Missouri, then good for you! Just remember to keep in mind a few small pieces of advice that will help you a lot. This will take a considerable investment of time and effort, and it wouldn't do to waste these.

When you first try your luck at doing business at a craft show, the first thing you will need to do is find somewhere to be. Search for an event that will happen close to your residence, and it's much easier these days to look for these fairs and festivals thanks to the Internet. Back in the day, one had to be on the constant lookout for fliers and posters advertising the information one needed for fairs. But try using a search engine now and see how fast information gets to you.

You should have found a small number of potential craft fairs by now. Before you decide to go to any of them, however, you must first contact the event organizers of each. Try to figure out how successful they have been over the years. In the case of events that are being held for the first time, try to find out how they plan to run things. This will be a large factor to determining the success of the incoming event, but be aware of one thing; first time events always have a large risk of faring badly.

You should be ready to start negotiating for a good deal for a booth and space at the craft show. Prices will vary, but this is usual. Ask what each rental package will include, aside from the space itself. The more expensive ones usually include access to power supplies, more tables and chairs, and whatever else. Cheaper packages will practically give you just the space and whatever you need (tables and chairs at the very least) will come out of your own expenses.

Remember that this is a joint effort between the event organizers and you. Do not lose your patience with them, as they're sure to be harasses by a lot more people than you, and be polite. Everyone will be much happier then. - 15246
