Using the Sea For Louisiana Crafts

By Myke Oswald

Humans are so attracted to the ocean, and sometimes, I wonder why this is. What is it about this large body of water that draws people in droves to spend days by the shore? What is it exactly about these places?

If you want my two cents on the matter, I think we're drawn to the water because of a basic human nature: Curiosity. We have long been fascinated by the mysterious, and we have always been looked at the strange. It's only natural that we are mesmerized by the ocean waves that beckon to us.

In this respect, we have always been curious about the natural wonders that lie hidden beneath the sea. Take a moment to notice, that every sea-faring culture in the world has mermaids within their tales. There is also an abundance of jewels from the sea; colorful shells of different shapes and sizes, bits of coral and driftwood, and pearls.

Other than jewelry, other individuals such as myself find use in the sea's beautiful accessories. We are able to practice some craftsmanship with them; even something as simple as a picture frame becomes exquisite when adorned with shells. It also helps give the feeling that you are attuned to the beauty of the sea. Although we do not dwell in water ourselves, these crafts make us feel a certain attachment to it somehow.

After making numerous crafted items, craftspeople then showcase their work to the would-be buyers. They do this thru the dozens of craft shows held in Louisiana State. If you're an aspiring craftsperson yourself, you may want to try displaying your work there, or even if you're just someone who wants to just relax and see the different sights. Either way, you should search first online for craft shows in your area, and you're well on your way. - 15246
